I have almost crashed a few times to avoid dogs, leashed or not. I am surprised the city is looking to expand leashed areas since they provide minimal to no enforcement of the current leashed areas. It can be intimidating on a hike when you have a Pit Bull, German Sheperd, etc. bearing down on you. Some are well behaved but many are not. That and of course the poop, which is terrible. I'm afraid many bad dog owners are making the rest of you look bad. The rest of us are sick of it. If we assume that the average mutt leaves approxamately 8 ounces per "dump" that means that 800 dogs are not being cleaned up after. A tremendous amount of those posting here state that they clean up after their dog "and others". Someone is spreading the defecate rather deep. Why don't I think it is the doggy owners. Pardon my bluntness, but I am much more worried about what is coming out of the baboon and his staff than the pooches in the foothills.
