Look, the issue is simple. We have a society where folk are not protected from threats we can identify for fear of offending someone of committing a PC gaff. The police have zero legal responsibility to protect us as individuals (Castle Rock v Gonzales) and almost always are not there for the violence, and lunatics in the political class have decided to create areas where mass shootings are almost encouraged by insuring normal folk are helpless.

Fortunately, 44 states have written laws allowing normal, law abiding folk to fill the gap, To take personal responsibility. As a result, a citizen carrying a weapon legally stopped a mass murder. It is time to stop pretending putting up a sign equals security. It is time to stop pretending the ‘gun free zones’ mean more than free fire zones.

And I dunno what he’d do, but many Christian churches teach that Jesus and God (and sometimes the holy spirit or holy ghost) are all one and the same, and we all have heard about what God did when he got ticked at Sodom and Gomorrah, and what he did to everybody except Noah and his kinfolk when he decided humans in general were no damned good.

By the way, I’m still trying to decide whether I should be insulted or complimented when Right_on_Boise, in apparently responding to my earlier post, addressed his response to Gorgon!

Jesus would surely carry an American-made weapon, probably a Colt .45, not some plastic European pea shooter.

Most churches (rightly) have a “Don’t ask – don’t tell” policy.

When you set up “gun-free zones” in this crazy society of ours, it’s possible you might be clueing in some wack-job that only criminals are armed, so you can go about your wacky business, whatever it happens to be.

I don’t carry a gun to church… but the bad guys don’t need to know that.

You are correct Logic. We are indeed a violent nation. As long as there is a portion of our society that is so deviant that they feel the need to “be famous by taking as many of the
@#$*#’ers as possible with them”, we have no choice but to protect ourselves.I agree there is no LOGIC here,but it is equally illogical to nurture members of a society that feel compelled to murder their fellow citizens. We always seem to find out, after the fact, that these maniacs were indeed being treated for some type of malady.
The “cracks” these people are slipping through have gotten too wide for the rest of us to continue to ignore.

I am glad that the courageous female church security guard took him down without taking him out. It would not have been wrong to kill him, but it demonstrates God’s grace in the midst of the tragedy.

FYI plenty of women in Boise carry a gun to church, and everywhere else that they go.

This debate is defying LOGIC! Cyclops, Vinnie and JJ sound like cops or at least cop mentality. They would be hard pressed to argue against school bus drivers packing in light of 6 kids in Las Vegas getting shot. And teachers too.

A 15 year old in Spokane brought a gun to school recently for “protection.” If he feared for his life would deadly force be justified from an after school bully?

We are a violent nation bent on killing each other! There is no LOGIC anywhere!

When a democrat (note the lower case “d”, by which I mean someone other than a tyrant, but upon further thought, the only way a democrat can be elected is if we elect a Democrat – isn’t that bunch of loony bin escapees running for the Republican nomination entertaining) is elected president in 2008 and takes office on January 20, 2009, Blackwater will get what’s coming to it and so will it’s employees.

From what I have read about this woman, she put the shooter down and he finished himself when he realized he wasn’t going to take anyone else with him. I have to agree with Lib Redneck on this one. We are all responsible, or should be, for our own safety.It appears to me that these “wackos” want to be “famous” by taking as many innocents with them as possible in their final act. I wonder why these losers always seem to go to malls or churches, or schools. How come they never go to a police station to “take as many cops as possible” with them? Maybe it’s because they realize that the people there will shoot back.
