As a general rule, whenever there are too many dogs, too many "logs" will follow! Because a lot of dog owners don't clean up behind their pets!

(nudge-nudge, wink-wink)

I believe the mentioned logjam is just upstream of the Ram at Broadway and Park Blvd. That logjam is a hazard to navigation as well. Some rafters mistakenly try to go down that side channel, not a good idea, and quite dangerous at higher flows. It also collects tons of garbage. On one of my trips with the Boise River Volunteer guys, I spent an hour just on that one side channel, picking up garbage. Perhaps this is good in a way, it prevents the garbage from going any further.

TJ, there's very little that's natural about the Boise River. That island has built up dramatically since I first started floating the river in the early 80s. In my opinion, not only should the logjam be removed, so should much of that island and some of the other islands that have grown in the river.

TJ - you are in Boise now. No one wants to be held responsible for anything (but everyone wants the credit for doing something when it comes out well). So who is in charge anyway? lol A story for The Little Red Hen, I'm sure.

MSO and I took a walk yesterday in that section of the Greenbelt and I wondered out loud why some of that debris wasn't cleaned out. It does look like it could be a hazard to those townhouses. If I remember correctly this was the result of the high water we experienced in 2006. It must be distressing to folks who bought there when they still had a view of the river

While I generally think it best to let nature takes its course, since helping in this area might be detrimental to areas down stream, I think the people in charge should have a look at it.
