Heres a thought, don’t drive like an idiot and you won’t have to pay a fine. Gordon, lay off the gas and you’ll still be able to get your beans…pun intended.
On the flip side though, I really wish ACHD would increase some speed limits and time lights a little betetr.

Yep. Of course, it’s only punishment to those of us to whom loss of 20 or 50 or 100 or however many bucks they’re charging this week is a serious loss.
The rich guys just pay it out of their spare change and go on their way. The totally broke can’t pay it anyway.

So those of us in between have to cut back on the beans, skip a doctor’s appointment, avoid getting a refill on the prescription, turn the heat down to 45 degrees, or make some other “adjustment” in our lifestyle.

Somehow doesn’t really seem like equal treatment under the law.

Of course, jail time has the same problem: The rich guy either buys his way out or just sits it out (and is still rich); the poorest just get a cot and a few meals (not exactly punishment), while the in-between lose their jobs and because of that their homes, cars or whatever they have with payments due on it.

Again, doesn’t seem very “equal.”

I dunno what would be better, but sure wish somebody a whole lot smarter than me (which shouldn’t be too difficult to be) would come up with a good answer.

Hey, I’m with you there—no wait–I still need it to watch netflix movies and videos.

Speaking of traffic–funny how the cops are never there when red lights are being crashed –at least maybe now they won’t be chasing perps at 100mph on main thoroughfares.

Watching the local TV news broadcasts in 2008, you’d of thunk the world was ending. I had guns hidden under ever piece of furniture listening carefully for the home invaders trying my doorknob…

One more reason to chuck the TV into the garbage can.

Traffic crashes are the biggest cause of death, injury and property loss by far, more than any violent or property crimes. I am glad to hear the police will be focusing on babysitting drivers as that will do more to increase public safety. If they happen to add to the public coffers in the process, so much the better. Think about what a fine is: A punishment on someone who broke the law. Sounds like a good thing to me. Don’t want to get popped? Drive responsibly (maybe that is what the Guardian means by “watch your backside).

If you don’t run red lights, speed, or pay attention to what’s happening around you, you don’t have to worry about anything! I still can’t figure out how someone thinks they can be the 4th. or 5th. car through a yellow light!
