Mayor Hotline September 25 to October 1, 2010

9/26/10
Jason Wallman
ISSUE: He called into the 911 system to inform the police that they had a light signal that was not working as the power was out at Federal Way and the connector to and from Broadway but they never sent anyone to direct traffic.

Diane Ayres

ISSUE: She saw a park employee coming out of Cassia Park with a sack of garbage and either a baby stroller or a jogger in the back of his truck. Earlier this summer she saw four park employees pull a bicycle out of the dumpster and put it in the back of their truck. Isn’t it against city policy to dig in the trash? She also wants to know if they keep mileage logs.

Seth Sievenpiper
Pico St.
Boise, ID 83705
ISSUE: He was told the fire on Pico St. that caused damage to several properties was started on railroad right-of-way and that they didn’t have to cut down the weeds on the property. If so, maybe it should be kept mowed. Also the weeds in the empty field across from 999 Federal Way need to be mowed since the burning embers were going in that direction.
Code Enforcement / Fire

9/30/10
Amy Miller
ISSUE: Complained many times to Parks & Rec. about all the sprinklers that shoot towards the Greenbelt. It’s a continuous issue in the park area close to Capitol Blvd., the Library, into Julia Davis Park, and near the Campus.

Gail Hughes
ISSUE: Asking support from Mayor for the Simplot JUMP project and to get the GBAD versus BCVB item resolved. Both have economic impacts and leadership is needed.

10/1/10
Anonymous
ISSUE: He just heard the Mayor talk on KBOI, in particular about the JUMP project and he thinks the Mayor just plays the politician and beats around the bush. He feels it’s ridiculous that the Mayor doesn’t know more about the project and that it might leave Boise.

Toni Newman
N. 24th St.
Boise, ID 83702
ISSUE: She read in the paper about the Simplot JUMP project and called to express her disappointment in city government. The Simplot Family wants to build a facility that will give lots of money to the community and provide jobs and the city makes them jump through the hoops. The Simplots should call City of Meridian and ask them if they want to have the project in Meridian.

  1. Hey Jason, try treating the intersection as a 4 way stop like you were taught in drivers education in high school, PD has more to worry about. Usually if one intersection is out there are many more. All drivers just need to be more vigilant and drive defensively and there would be no problems at intersections when lights go out.
