Wow BG really? This would be a huge boon for the downtown economy and adding more higher profile attractions to the City of Trees. A beautiful downtown stadium bringing new festivities and patrons to downtown restaurants and retail outlets? Boise should push the city to make sure we don't lose this opportunity to Meridian and regret it 5-10 years down the road. The only reason the Hawks only attract 1500 is nobody wants to drive to, let alone spend any time, in Garden City of all places. Get them a nice stadium, uprate the team to Triple A and put it where people actually want to go and they'll draw crowds.

EDITOR NOTE--Take a look at our professional analysis from a year ago on potential Boise Downtown locations--27th and Fairview. https://boiseguardian.com/2010/04/15/4530/

Baseball was a popular game, in like 1945.

When I read this story, I was a bit perplexed by the notion that this stadium might be multi-use and used by high schools. Boise State is going to build a new track complex and field that can be used by Boise high schools for football. Is this stadium considering duplication of this, or baseball only for the like 50 fans that show up for high school baseball games?

Humph.. A study with a pre-determined outcome. How dumb do they think we are? This is symbolic of how our elected officials operate.

The problem with baseball around here is it is played during the heat of the day. Given a choice I will remain in my Lazy Boy chair with cold beverage nearby before I would ever make the effort to attend a baseball game played in sweletering heat.

Twilight game time would increase attendance but daylight savings time nulls this out as games would go well past midnight. Working people have to get up early to go to work.

$24,500? Many, that's gonna be some Taj Mahal of a stadium, eh? Can hardly build a decent restroom for that price. What the heck they talking about?

EDITOR NOTE-- The $24,500 is just for the study--to be done by the people who concluded we need a bigger convention center.
