I do not believe that any school children should paddled or any type of Corporal punishment .. Thats why i made a petitiin to president Obama to end this non sense in school and give kids and teens a safe place to learn.. I made a petition to end this practice in all schools .. Will you sign my petition and help save millions of kids.. http:/wh.gov/b3e i need only around 140 signatures but dont have a facebook to do so..

I am pro-spanking in the home, but I do not believe the “state” should use punishment on children that would not be allowed for terrorists.

Neither city nor state nor federal police can hit an offender as punishment. They can shoot them – but not as punishment.

A better solution for the high-offending child is to fine the parent. Give the principal a ticketbook, and make the parents financially accountable – the parents would control their children and the schools would raise funds.

Note to Idaho Crystal:
1. Is the general level of behavior by school kids better today than it was in the 50’s and 60′?

2. Is the general appearance of school aged kids better today than in the 50’s and 60’s. We had a dress code in the public schools I attended. Shoes, sox, pants with a belt for boys skirts or dresses for girls no higher than the top knee caps, bermuda shorts in hot weather, shirts with collars. Boys with hair cuts and clean shaven if needed in high school. Different luch periods for 9/10 and 11/12 to keep the harassment to a minimum.

Where I now live schools seem to be moving back to dress standards with quasi-uniforms with dark pants and shirts with collars and no logos or decorations or graphics.

In life, personal appearance is a big deal for most employers for their employees. The Rocky Horror Show does not go down well with customers. Likewise, a method of handing out discipline to the unruly, non compliant kids is something schools and administration people need in the tool box. We are well behind in academic achievement in this country and anything to get things back on track has my support.

The “Board of Education applied to the seat of future blisters”. I got my share of swats and the threat of swats was more fearful than the actual delivery. Corporal punishment was used in Los Angeles public schools routinely when I was a student until I graduated High School in 1964.

The Mommies and Daddies of churlish little monsters who could do no wrong in the eyes of parents who were the drug residue of the 60’s and 70’s have made the job of discipline in schools nearly impossible today. I don’t know of a single kid who didn’t survive a swat that was earned by those who received them.

Corporal punishment is assault/battery and if you can charge anyone else with assault or battery, including a parent or another kid, for hitting a kid then you must do so with everyone.

It always seemed so absurd to me when a parent whacks their kid for misbehaving then turns around and says don’t hit your brother/sister/schoolmates…

5 times is not nearly enough. My 8th grade homeroom teacher used to use a coat hanger which seemed to produce good results. I would be careful about whipping the teachers tho–some of them might enjoy it and see it as a reward
