This is not going to be an improvement and will result in higher taxes/rates. People get elected with a personal agenda. The agenda of two of these three is to protect and enhance the pubic employee's wages and bennies. Wait a couple years to say I'm wrong. And further, I do not see a conservative in the lot. Republican can mean anything these days.

It is interesting that given the changes that have already taken place, and the now large public interest that people still think it will stay the same. If you are that pessimistic why waste your words whining about it?

Stupid Fools leading the Foolishly Stupid. Grossly incompetent, inept and corrupt. The good ol' boy network in Idaho.

I have solved this political dilemma in a very direct way: I don’t vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote you have absolutely no right to complain. Now, some people will twist that around. They say, “If you don’t vote, you have no right to complain,” but where’s the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians and they are now in that office and screw everything up (and they will), you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You now have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote – who did not even leave the house on Election Day – am no way responsible for what these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess you created. Especially with the Dynamis deal. I mean really no one committed a crime.

One of the other local news outlets characterized the new Commission as "progressive." Which begs the question... if we are "progressive," what are we progressing towards?

Like other commenters, the hiring of a new PR flak on Day One does not fill me with confidence that fiscal responsibility is a priority. (Or transparency, for that matter... in most cases, the PR staff at various gummint agencies acts like one more level of bureaucracy to separate the high-and-mighty from us commoners.)

Time will tell, I guess. (Maybe Maneely can use some of those awesome sportscasting skills to at least make the meeting minutes seem exciting...)

I’d like to know how they picked Maneely. It was obviously done before the swearing
in and without any public notice.

At least two of the commissioners got together and made the pick behind closed doors. So much for transparency.

How is it "they" hired such a 'media frontperson' without a job announcement and selection process, but they did it on Day One.

Doesn't look like transparency to me.

More like, "We know what we want to do and how to get around the red tape to get to it done."

So.. I just read the paper. Maneely is a new position at 85K With time working for the lottery on his resume (PERSI). So.. the first act of the new commission is to create a new position at 85K? So we have 3 full timers, and a chief of staff, and Wright--all to run one County?

Larry Maneely? Mr. "I'd like to thank all the little people who made my move up in the market possible" Maneely? He must be nearing retirement and looking for some PERSI action. Isn't there another ex news guy high up in the County govt? Rich Wright? or did Maneely replace him. I don't get what qualifies ex journalists (term used loosely) for jobs like this. Whew!! I feel better now.
