I called fish and game to ask if spearfishing would be allowed. According to the article that would in theory be allowed. The lady at the Boise Headquarters told me all fishing regulations still apply except the bag limit. Kind of a contradiction from their statement. "Fish may be taken by any method except firearms, explosives, chemicals or electric current." As an Idaho Diver (Yes there are people that crazy) it would have been a unique opportunity to spear something you could cook and eat.

EDITOR NOTE--We talked to Dave Parrish, sport fish program coordinator at F&G. Lady at front desk was wrong. She has now been informed that spearfishing and even seine netting is allowed. Be careful with the arrows and spears around those float tubers! Let us know if you and your diving partners get any food for the table...please send pictures.

I have done a lot of thinking about fishing over the years and ended up giving both of my boats to my kids as it is their turn to use and enjoy them as I once did.

The effort it takes to go fishing anymore and the inherent costs of getting there made me realize the best fishing is in the frozen food section of Costco. I have lost the love I once had for this sport.

The Devil makes me ask, what is the "old bag" limit? And, what are the means by which one may take old bags? And, is there a catch and release protocol for old bags.
