dog, Americans in general are increased too... It's not just a vet thing... it's an economic thing. Biggest increase is in middle-aged whites who used to have hope for the American dream.

Lets also not forget todays Ameican veterans committing suicide everyday. It is up to 22 per day the last time I looked.
How long do we tolerate politicians who lead us into wars in foreign lands to fight for freedom at home?

Dave, with your permission here is my favorite poem to reflect upon. In memory of the three very close veteran friends I have lost in the last sixteen months:

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

We tend to forget just how much service members have given up and how few of us have served our country in the military. Our wars are now fought with an all volunteer force. The scars of warfare are not something most people give much thought these days. A trip through the Boise VA Hospital is something everyone should do as a reminder of just how much some people have given up in service to our nation.
