some knowledge of standing up for your self interest and what that is would help. too few people go too quietly and don’t voice their self interest as in voting.

social media is powerful, but still has not infiltrated the voting booth.

our mayor, council, and population are not all that educated no do they act on it. the choice between the current administration and something else is a drastic conservative flogging.

how about some over the line conservative to run our town. that is probably our alternative choice. that is how the current admin survives.

Editor: Do you recall back in December of 1999 there was a bunch of yoyos buying up propane, canned food, and bullets? Some even had their pastor mark their forehead.

Well, they are still here. Still driving their per-electronic ignition Chevy. Still very frustrated with all that wasted money back in 1999. They’re now posting on your blog about the accuracy of their failed philosophy regarding the United States body politic.

I encourage limitations upon said philosophers and other powered egg consumers.

However, our own GUARDIAN SNOPES researcher offers this on a previous comment: On a lark, I pulled down voting records from the last mayoral election (2015). I compared precincts north of the river with those south of the river and to the west. The comment was correct. 38% voted in the north end. 25% on the bench and around the airport.

Statistics 101 says that a sample size of 500 would be sufficient to correctly determine the feelings of a population the size of Boise, so low voter turnout is not a problem.
The problem lies in the brainwashing by the corporate media that determines the outcomes of elections. The Russians meddling? Nonsense. The corporate media is the meddler. They tell you who is “electable”, and who is just a “perennial candidate” to be dismissed.
People think voting matters because the corporate media tells them it matters, endlessly repeated, as is any propaganda campaign.

Since almost every Idaho politician voiced his or her support for F-35 mission inside Boise city limits, voting will not change anything, in this case.
Any politician who speaks against F-35 mission will get replaced in the next election by the one who is for F-35, via the corporate or lobbyist money.
Therefore only term limits, and campaign finance law change will help, politically.
Holding every significant political figure who supported F-35 legally responsible via a class action lawsuit is the only way out of the “F-35 in the city limits” quagmire.
The other thing, at least half of the population is against F-35 in Boise (and at large). Why have they been silent?

Voting works really well, but voter turnout is terrible low, or very predictable within some demographic groups.

Voting really does work. Proof. Voting in a bloc exactly the way their elders tell them to is how the Somali and other *minority groups have taken over the politics of so many cities. The stupid ignorant long term residents refuse to vote then complain they got a muslim congressional representative. See Minneapolis right now for proof. ((*minority in number by a large margin))

The people/businesses in downtown Boise vote and don’t like noise. The people under the new F-35 flight path don’t vote… or always vote party line. Simple as that.

If voting worked, they’d make it illegal.
We keep voting, and things keep getting worse, go figure…

To quote George Santayana “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Back in the 1970’s I worked for the City of Boise, and the city purchased sound level meters for patrol officers to use.

They used them to write tickets for “excessive noise”. because the “cruse” in downtown Boise was keeping patrons of the hotels awake.

This evening at 7:30 pm, two F-15s approached Boise/Gowen Field for a landing. What is the rationale of our Mayor’s statement that the IANG/Gowen Field is a 10 min. disruption from Monday-Friday during the hours of 8-5? Don’t shift workers, babies and toddlers routinely sleep at 7:30 pm?
