More Baseball For Franklin School Playground

The GUARDIAN has learned Boise City’s aggressive urban renewal expansion will include the site of the former Franklin School Playground.

City spokesman Mike Journee claimed the purchase using CCDC urban renewal funds will be a “win-win” for citizens and business alike with condos, cultural events, and affordable housing. Final cost has yet to be determined, but he said the city is seeking financial support from sewer revenues, traffic tickets and corporate contributions in addition to the CCDC money.

Plans call for building a U-shaped stadium on the Orchard and Franklin site which will include modular low-cost housing units on one side and a futuristic library-art gallery on the other. Greenstone properties has been awarded the $87,000 professional service consulting contract to coordinate the stakeholders progress and optimization path.

Mayor Dave Bieter said, “We are trying to use some resources to infuse culture into the Bench and homeless populations and this project seems to fit.”

The project is part of the the CCDC plans for a street car which will include routes on Orchard, Overland, and Vista to connect with the expansion at the Boise International airport. It reportedly will be bike friendly and reduce Orchard to a single lane of travel in each direction.

Since the land area is somewhat restricted, Journee admitted the new stadium could be used mostly by Little League teams with hopes of attracting the “Little League world series” which is scheduled to be played next April Fools Day…exactly one year from today.

Sewer revenues are supposed to go for EPA upgrades. They are astronomical now and in some cases higher than the water bill.

This group is going to be the ruination of the middle class in Boise.

    EDITOR NOTE–
Bonnie read the last line again and note the smiley face. This is a Monday post. We got YA!!

Editor, what Boise Social Score do you think TeamDave has assigned to you? I hope they keep good records, I look forward to reviewing the files when the West takes over city hall again.

You had me going all the way to the end. Thanks for the laugh!

  4. BSS: …and a Great Horse shall come from the West, and he that sits upon him shall have a sword and a crown that the evil doers will be swept out of the Hall of Enmity, and beside him shall ride one with a pair of balances in her hand, and justice shall once again descend upon the City and True KINDness shall reign!

And who is this Savior from the West, pray tell?

    Happy Fools Day

  5. Got me, it was dumb enough to be true.

Streetcars connecting all the Boise Bench is a way better idea than a dumb downtown circulator. Maybe we can call it the Boise InterUrban. 😉

Wait, this is the best you can come up with? What about “Boise annexes Meridian, Kuna, Eagle, and Nampa”??? I’m sure Mike Journee would have some appropriate statement…

  9. again, for 4/1, it so preposterous it is actually believable in this world.
    So it’s actually a sad story. 🙁

  10. Dave, it’s pretty pathetic that your 4/1 fantasy ruminations NEVER seem more far-fetched than City Hall fantasy ruminations (the “Kind New Deal”), the other 364 days! The difference is, THEY have designs on financing their fantasy with the artesian flow of taxpayer dollars.

  11. I know it’s April Fools and all, but….DON’T GIVE THEM ANY MORE IDEAS!

All of your faux suggestions are totally inline with their mindset. That’s why many of the responses took the bait.

Oh and, you are not “being nice” when you do this. Your social credit score is now downranked. But I give it a thumbs up.

    Have a nice DAY!
