County

And The Survey Says…

About 6,000 Ada County residents responded to a survey from the county commishes regarding what to do with the Fair Grounds (EXPO Idaho).

A whopping 84% wanted to leave the venue in its current location at Chinden and Glenwood. The survey offered three choices of suggested use of the 247 acres of public land.

Horse and buggy rides like this at Greenfield Village near Detroit would be a novelty at the Ag Park.

Respondents favored expanded greenbelt (52%), natural spaces (51%), the agricultural heritage park (32%) which are all pretty much compatible. A sports complex/stadium was favored by 36%.

The GUARDIAN has been in favor of an Agricultural Heritage Park to demonstrate and honor our state’s past and current contribution to the farm life.

  1. It seems there are 2 processes concurring simultaneously with the fairgrounds. I just saw notice for a meeting tomorrow night from the Urban Land Institute. They will present their recommendations based upon the outcome of the citizen’s commission that happened prior to Beck and Davidson taking office.

Thanks for the info. Clancy. Another virtual presentation to keep the people at bay, or completely out of the loop for those who are in the “digital divide” and to check off the box for public engagement.

But will they listen to us, that is the question. Or will Tommy Boy get his apartments, and the Hawks their taxpayer-funded stadium? The citizens overwhelmingly want Murgoitio Park, but a handful of Harrises seem to hold more sway with the Boise council.

Yeah yeah, ag. park because so many Ada County kids are studying to work in the fields… pffft. Now let’s get some press on “low tax” Repub Ada Co Commish Davidson voting to raise his salary his first year in office to 122k!Is he qualified to flip burgers at McD’s for $12/hr… probably not!

  5. All results aren't covered

So what is the percentage for the question about building development, etc? Was it so low so as to believe no one wants it, then they leave it off because they don’t want to talk about it and are going to do it any way? Do not give the land to developers.
