In 1963, there were only 487 nesting pairs of eagles in America (from over 100,000 birds).

Due to people using SCIENCE and REGULATION eagle numbers have recovered.

1967 eagles were listed as Endangered.
1972 EPA banned the use of DDT
1973 EPA officially used the federal Endangered Species Act to protect them.

Eagles still have threats including use of lead bullets for hunting, loss of habitat, and a contaminated food chain including plastics.

Do not tread on the eagle? Put that on a flag!
