GUARDIAN Wins Best National Blog Sammie

Hollywood has its Oscars and activists have the “Sammies,” named after Samuel Adams, one of those fabled “Founding Fathers.”

Some well intentioned reader nominated the GUARDIAN for “blogger of the year” and guess what? We won! Had it not been for the efforts of the cities to abolish the constitutional right of citizens to vote on debt, urban renewal’s attempt to go around voters, and all the actions of Team Dave, we never would have won. Thank you all.

The Sammies are Sam Adams Alliance’s annual awards recognizing activists nationally for their work for freedom and free markets. Awards are given in six categories and come with cash prizes of $3000-$5000 and are presented at a “red carpet event” in Chicago. Visit www.thesammies.com for more information.

In the 1760s, Adams was part of a movement opposed to the British Parliament’s efforts to tax the British American colonies without their consent. His 1768 circular letter calling for colonial cooperation prompted the occupation of Boston by British soldiers. To help coordinate resistance to what he saw as the British government’s attempts to violate the British Constitution at the expense of the colonies, Adams and his colleagues devised a committee of correspondence system, which linked like-minded Patriots throughout the Thirteen Colonies in 1772…before the days of internet and blogs.

Super job Dave, I salute you!

  4. Great! But don’t get to excited about that award money, pal. According to our fearless leader(s), we all need to share the wealth. And, well…since I am one of the readers, I’m rightfully entitled to a cut of the booty.

  5. That is great and you deserve it. I also like to see your picture to remind me I am not the only one getting old. lol Here’s to many more years for both of us (all of us).

  6. Congrats, but no real surprise as most of us knew you were on top already. But, good to see it recognized and keep up the great work.

  7. Great job!!!!

  8. Congrats, Dave!

  9. You have earned it my friend. Great job serving this city and state.
So, if history repeats itself, when we are finally fed up and we decide to take it back, by force, you will be the clearing house of information we will rely on???
    (just kidding KTA, relax.)

Hats off to you, Dave! Very well deserved. What a service you do for this community.

  12. Dave,
Your efforts have reigned in elected officials who would have us all in debt as high as the banks would allow.

All we have to do now is get our rights to vote on debt wrestled back from the debt lovers we have in public office.

Bond elections garner a buy in from those who have to repay debt. Anything else is a violation of our rights as citizens and taxpayers.

Well done! I congratulate whomever nominate you and the Guardian; and the awards individuals/group for their selection. I know that you don’t do this for any reason other than acting on behalf of the people of the area, so this must be a very, very gratifying bit of recognition. You dun good, guy!
