While the G-BAD board voted 3 to 2 to approve funds for promotion work by the BCVB, treasurer Stephanie Astorquia has yet to put her name to a check. She has gone on record opposing the expenditure, citing a District Court ruling in Pocatello which said it was improper to use auditorium district funding for promotions outside the district’s projects.
Like the looming federal deficit saga, BCVB claims it faces an August 3 deadline or chances financial disaster. The non-profit PR agency could lose state tourism funding if the matching funds don’t come through.
