Planned Skinhead Event Disguised In Mayor Hotline Summary

Word of a planned gathering of neo-Nazi skinheads was relayed to the Mayor’s hotline August 31, but only became public knowledge Tuesday when KTVB Channel 7 reporter Jamie Grey broke the story after following an e-mail tip to her.

Record of a call to the Mayor Hotline August 31 three weeks earlier was so sanitized it didn’t get a second notice from the GUARDIAN, or anyone else who read the deceptive summary notation …”Concerned about event.”

Here is what the caller actually said nearly a month ago:
“I heard you guys are hosting a group of White Supremacy people called Hammerskin Nation October 6. I am very concerned about this. I know they have been known to kill people of a different race. I Can’t believe Boise would promote this. I want this to be stopped.”

Boise PD is taking a very measured approach after noting INTERNET postings by the group. Sgt. Jeff Basterrechea was interviewed by KTVB and said, “Mainly, what we try to do is monitor it — make sure that if they do hold their concert, that it’s held in a safe manner for both the members and for the community as a whole.”

Basterrechea noted, “What we try to do is respect everybody’s First Amendment rights, but in the same sense, we have to make sure these groups [Hammerskins and potential protesters] don’t comingle because a lot of times what happens is you have these events turn very violent.”

No venue has been revealed for the reported gathering which is believed to be a “concert.”

I am a rabid 1st Amendment supporter and I hope that everyone with a severe communicable disease will visit this gathering and share a hug (or even kiss) of peace with these folks.

  2. I think it would be a nice peace offering to have a Rabbi help these misguided folk by performing free circumcisions to go along with their skin heads on top.

Hate mongering is something I haven’t been able to figure out, especially when we are all decendants of a black tribe in central africa back in the day based on DNA research.

  3. I can’t believe someone would believe the City of Boise would be promoting it.

  4. Flyhead, new research is coming out on the DNA thing. Might be several branches from different trunks.

That said, the race groups of all colors are using a very old tactic to unify people who would not otherwise. It’s basically a type of socialism.

  5. I agree with you Zippo, the best known way to unify a group is to get everyone to hate the same thing, our military uses this (I know from personal experience)

Well, Dave Bieter disguises himself as competent, what’s the difference?

  7. I love those of you who preach everyone having the right to say, think, and believe in what they choose… right up until the moment that someone says something you do not agree with… then is lets infect them with something…it’s kind of like when you all rage about cutting the deficit and taking away entitlements… all except yours… bring on the skin heads.. let them have their party… IF no one shows to partake or protest they won’t come back… but the sheeple will show up mostly to protest and then the group will get publicity.. guaranteeing they will return… coz let’s face it folks they got every right under the constitution….and ya cant do a thing about it…. you will all cry for YOUR chosen form of the stazzi to protect you from the bad guy..The simple fact that even one person said “I want this to be stopped.” should be enough to give all pause to wonder “what happens if I want to do something unpopular.. will the neighbors put a stop to it?” much like this post will probably either not make it on or be as Dave said sanitized. Pick your favorite form of oppression.

  8. I am having trouble getting a feeling about this being real or some weird stunt. Obviously, racism sucks and no reasonable person wants anything to do with it. My question is more about whether this is actually a story or some kind of viral thing that has hit the media.

  9. interesting concept james bond, since we know that whites are the only people capable of being raciest does that mean only whites are unreasonable?

  10. My only hope is that everything goes off peacefully.

  11. My point was not to debate racism. Anybody of any color, origin, religion, etc., can be racist.

My point is that I have a rather sickening feeling that this story, which seems to be generating news every day, is a stunt. Maybe I am wrong, but I am suspicious about the whole thing and how something so vague becomes news. For example, it would be horrible if every threat was reported.

Based on what I’ve heard, the skinheads are keeping the location and time of their event secret. They should, for their own protection.
