Ustick: I wish to address the issue of Ustick Road. I used to live next to it for 30 years and that road needs to be widened. It’s mostly commercial along there and needs to have space. Let the Ada County Highway District do the job that is their responsibility. You get protests and activists whether you are going to build a townhouse or a house all the time. You have to let the governmental agencies do what is their responsibility to do without all the interference. Curtis road was an excellent example of this. It got stalled for many, many years and I knew it was going to happen, just a matter of when. I feel the same way about Ustick Road. Let ACHD do it.

Construction complaint: My complaint is I live off of Five mile and they have been doing this waterline replacement. It was scheduled to be completed about 6 weeks ago and then they had another date which it was supposed to be done on May 1st. Now it looks like it won’t be completed until June 1st. I drive by the construction everyday and I see those guys not working more than they are working. Why are they not working long shifts to get it completed? This is such a huge impact on this area. We all have to drive down Maple Grove or Cloverdale which are backed up for long lengths. Whoever that contractor is doing the work should be fined and replaced. To drag on a waterline replacement for this long is just ridiculous. Whoever designed the roads around here should also be replaced. The traffic around her is just horrendous. Thank you.

Airport parking: I’m calling about the airport parking. As you probably know it’s really bad. I’m at the airport flying out about once a week or every week and I can never find a place to park. It’s the worst airport I have ever been to in terms of parking. So something needs to happen and if the city cannot do it, you need to turn it over to another agency that can take care of it whether it’s the state, county, or another. You need to have the parking done and you won’t get the 2/3 vote because if people can’t pass the library bond, they will not pass the parking bond. You need to figure something out. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen and I’ve flown all across the country. Hopefully you can figure it out.

BPR complaint: Concerned with why BPR is taking down political posters on the light posts in the parks. BPR should not be under direct control of this. He is frustrated with their ability to control putting signs up. He wants a response and not in the form of a postcard he says. M/CC N/R

Sidewalk Ordinance: He has heard the city attorney has advised the police not to enforce the “no alcohol after sunset ordinance” downtown at the sidewalk cafes. He wants to know if this is correct and if so who determined this. He also wants to know if the cafes with sidewalk dining have to pay additional for the use of this space and if so how much and to whom.

Towing Complaint: My concern is regarding Poor Mans Towing Company. His phone number is 830-3964. My truck was parked in front of a gate behind the place and was 20 ft back behind Poor Man’s Towing gate. The owner told me he would charge me $500 dollars to release my truck. There are no signs showing he owns the property or that my truck will be towed if it’s parked there. I called an officer last night to check on it and the owner hung up on the officer and later called dispatch and accused the officer of threatening him over the phone. This was not true. My husband and I were there at the time when Sergeant Doney called Greg, the owner of Poor Man’s Towing. My concern is that he is excessively charging us for parking near his gate. Please give me a call.

Graffiti: I wanted to report blue graffiti at the corner of Phillippi and Overland right underneath the chiropractor’s office and then again by the new primary construction company at the irrigation box. There is gold graffiti on the front side of that box on the corner of Randolph and Overland. It needs to be removed.

Graffiti: I was calling to report some graffiti. The address is 5613 Overland Road. It’s a small business of some type and there are no signs pointing to what kind of business it is but frequently when I drive by there is some kind of graffiti. It looks like they try to keep up with painting over it but then the next day there is more there.

Thank you! Hi we are calling to express our sincere appreciation to the Mayor and City Council and to whoever painted the retaining walls on Hill Rd in between N. 36th and 28th St. There is one section that still needs to be done to the west of 28th but nonetheless, what has been done has been spectacular! Whoever did it, thank you too! We sure appreciate it. It makes our neighborhood look a whole lot better. Thank you.

Graffiti: I’m finding more graffiti in my neighborhood. This one is on Milwaukee Road, south of Ustick on the east side. There is a big building built out of cinderblock and there is a bunch of graffiti on it. If you could check it out, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

What do you say to the frustrated airport parker in light of your lawsuit, Dave?
EDITOR NOTE– He should vote for a parking facility. If the financing is “clean” and the rental agencies do their own financing like Fed-X and the hangar owners, I may even vote for it. Best solution is to lease the land for $1 a year and let a private outfit finance it and build it.
