Christmas Park Lights: I am a concerned citizen of Boise. I was just curious why the
lights haven’t been put up on the entrance to Ann Morrison Park yet. I’m used to seeing
those up every year and I thought that was at Velma Morrison’s request, so I was just
curious. I hope to see them soon. Thanks.

Idaho Meth Project: The reason that I was calling is that the current meth billboard
that’s up with the skin ripped off and the blood in the sink thing is just…I don’t
understand why I, as a law-abiding citizen, have to look at this every day. At first I was
behind this project because I thought that if it would really discourage people from using
meth it would be worth it, but I’m starting to change my mind. It really, really bothers me
to have to see these on a daily basis and this one is the worst yet. I try not to look when
I go by it, but it literally makes me sick to my stomach. I know that’s the point, but I really
don’t see why we have to be subjected to that. I don’t agree with pushing it that far.
That’s my comment. Thank you.

Alllied: I’m having trouble having my trash picked up. I called BFI and they said that
they were going to pick it up and they never did. I’ve been waiting a week now and they
have not returned my call, and haven’t done anything. So, could you give me a call; I
need the trash picked up as soon as possible. Thank you.

Towing Ord.: We wanted to tell the Mayor’s Office “Merry Christmas” and thank you so
much for getting all the tow-truck drivers regulated now so there’s no more problems for
single women like me who can’t get their property, etc., etc. I was so excited to see that
something had really been done. So you really can go to city hall and get it done! Merry
Christmas and thank you again.

Speeding Drivers: Hello, I live behind Boise High and over the years I’ve lodged a
number of complaints about the problem at the intersection of 10th and Franklin with
students, but unfortunately the overwhelming number of people appear to be staff and
faculty running the four-way stop sign and speeding in a 20 mile an hour zone. It’s been
a frustrating thing, but has gotten a little better with a little help from some folks at the
Boise School District. However, I believe the mystery of why there is such horrific
driving in that area, I believe that mystery has been solved. Today, being Saturday, at
12 minutes past one, I had the misfortune of being behind a driver’s education car, a tan
Ford Fusion , license plate C1085, the misfortune to observe them doing about 35 to 40
miles an hour, literally because I clocked it, in a 20 mile an hour zone at 13th in Hyde
Park. I was curious so I hung way back just to see. There were rolling stops from stop
signs; they were doing about 30-35 miles an hour in the overall North End 25 mile an
hour zone. I have to wonder what in God’s name was the driving instructor doing the
whole time he was sitting in the car. I mean I did see him (at least it looked like a him)
kind of casually glancing out the windows, evidently not paying attention to anything that
was going on. So mystery solved; the school does a really horrible job of teaching their
students how to drive, so of course they’re going to drive horrible. Good job guys.

Ms. Black would have really freaked-out had she seen the gentleman who tried to remove his own face with a broken Coke bottle while under the influence of Dust / PCP that I had to respond to back-in-the-day.

I would suggest that if the campaign directly or indirectly saves even one poor soul from the ravages of a hard drug like meth’, then it’s a success.

Anything less subtle than a hand grenade is not going to get the attention of the Average American.

  2. Those Idaho Meth Project ads scare the hell out of me, so I think they serve a great purpose. I’ve had too many people close to me get involved with that devil’s drug and the ads aren’t too far from reality. Keep on scarin’ ’em straight!
