Hollywood has its Oscars and activists have the “Sammies,” named after Samuel Adams, one of those fabled “Founding Fathers.”
Some well intentioned reader nominated the GUARDIAN for “blogger of the year” and guess what? We won! Had it not been for the efforts of the cities to abolish the constitutional right of citizens to vote on debt, urban renewal’s attempt to go around voters, and all the actions of Team Dave, we never would have won. Thank you all.
The Sammies are Sam Adams Alliance’s annual awards recognizing activists nationally for their work for freedom and free markets. Awards are given in six categories and come with cash prizes of $3000-$5000 and are presented at a “red carpet event” in Chicago. Visit www.thesammies.com for more information.
In the 1760s, Adams was part of a movement opposed to the British Parliament’s efforts to tax the British American colonies without their consent. His 1768 circular letter calling for colonial cooperation prompted the occupation of Boston by British soldiers. To help coordinate resistance to what he saw as the British government’s attempts to violate the British Constitution at the expense of the colonies, Adams and his colleagues devised a committee of correspondence system, which linked like-minded Patriots throughout the Thirteen Colonies in 1772…before the days of internet and blogs.

Great! But don’t get to excited about that award money, pal. According to our fearless leader(s), we all need to share the wealth. And, well…since I am one of the readers, I’m rightfully entitled to a cut of the booty.

That is great and you deserve it. I also like to see your picture to remind me I am not the only one getting old. lol Here’s to many more years for both of us (all of us).
Mar 30, 2010, 5:28 am
Congrats, but no real surprise as most of us knew you were on top already. But, good to see it recognized and keep up the great work.

You have earned it my friend. Great job serving this city and state.
So, if history repeats itself, when we are finally fed up and we decide to take it back, by force, you will be the clearing house of information we will rely on???
(just kidding KTA, relax.)

Two thumbs up from this reader, Dave. Keep up the great work.
(Is that your Macintosh, or did you just Photoshop it in, to impress people? haha)

Hats off to you, Dave! Very well deserved. What a service you do for this community.
Mar 30, 2010, 10:12 am
Dave,
Your efforts have reigned in elected officials who would have us all in debt as high as the banks would allow.
All we have to do now is get our rights to vote on debt wrestled back from the debt lovers we have in public office.
Bond elections garner a buy in from those who have to repay debt. Anything else is a violation of our rights as citizens and taxpayers.

Atta boy, Dave! Your honesty is one of the reasons for your success. Keep up the good work!
Mar 30, 2010, 10:40 am
Congratulations!

Wow, and all this time I thought a Sammie was a sandwich. Thanks for sharing and giving us something to chew on G-man. Just next time, I’d prefer mayo instead of Miracle Whip.
Mar 30, 2010, 1:42 pm
Congrats – Dave! It’s great to see this well deserved recognition on such a big stage!
Mar 30, 2010, 3:40 pm

Sincere Congratulations on a well deserved recognition. Keep up the good fight!!
Mar 30, 2010, 5:35 pm
Congrats!!! Now just run for mayor!!!
EDITOR NOTE–Can’t run for office. Once elected, it is near impossible to say bad things about other elected officials…unless they are of the other party.
Mar 30, 2010, 6:42 pm
Well done! I congratulate whomever nominate you and the Guardian; and the awards individuals/group for their selection. I know that you don’t do this for any reason other than acting on behalf of the people of the area, so this must be a very, very gratifying bit of recognition. You dun good, guy!
