KBOI-TV2 and the AP are reporting Boise’s former mayor, Brent Coles and his wife have a lien on their house in the amount of $44,691 for fail to pay back Idaho state taxes.
Coles left office and took up residence in the Ada jail after admitting to illegal use of–ironically–tax money. He was Boise’s mayor from 1993 to 2003, leaving amid allegations of making illegal travel expense claims. In the past he publicly blamed his wife when the couple’s private checks bounced.
His record was cleared of the charge in 2007 in a deal with the courts that required him to complete all the terms of his probation.

$44,000 in tax represents a lot of income. Someone with that kind of income should be able to pay their taxes on time.
