Interestingly enough the day this (first hotline) inquiry was received, myself and three other Boise Police staff members spent the better part of the morning meeting with thirty other service providers at a Veterans Resource meeting discussing ways we could better serve our military veterans. That effort has been largely lead by the Boise Police Department whose interests lie in making sure veterans in crisis are linked up with services prior to having to call the police for help.
This afternoon I went to Channel 7 with Staff Sergeant George Nickel to film an upcoming Viewpoint segment that talks about how the Boise Police Department has improved its networking with the military and our community provider network, to better serve our vets. I would encourage people interested in hearing about that story to check Channel 7’s website for the future airing of that show.
I tried to return a phone call to the caller in the hopes I could better understand what he was referring to with that broad term “discrimination”. I’ve received no answer. And I will follow up with a phone call later next week in the hopes of learning more specific information.

Thanks for your response Chief. These soldiers have earned our respect and thanks for their service.
Now, have another meeting with your patrol staff and start citing the signal violations in this town.
We are now dealing, regularly, with two, three and even four cars turning left on a red light! You need to get this handled before someone gets killed!

Oh my, I agree with Cyclops again. Go figure.
BPD needs to pay more attention to red light runners than they do to speeders. Sure, it is more work, but, it is the right thing to do.
