AP–“Sniper School Broke Federal Rules”

The Associated Press followed up on yesterday’s GUARDIAN story about a suspicious “sniper training” business operating on public lands in Eastern Idaho and reports they misfied when it came to getting official permission.

The would be business snookered the local media with an ATV tour, live firing of weapons by reporters and claims–or veiled–claims of credentials and clients that just didn’t prove true.

Here is the AP STORY.

  1. Free TV advertising perhaps? Is this similar to when the local TV folks race up to the bankrupt ski resort to report on the first snow flake in hopes of renting out one of those units owned by friends of the station?

So these guys come to Idaho from Florida(?) and sniff out some Afghan-ish property in order to provide training to active or reserve military personnel, but I didn’t see anything about their background(s) other than claims of prior general military service – How are they better qualified to train our guys than the experts who are training them now?
The majority of our soldiers being killed and wounded overseas are being attacked by freaks who ARE the weapons – Wearing or driving bombs intent on killing everything nearby. How is training to be a better sniper in a like environment going to bring those kids home any safer?
From the little bit that’s been reported, these guys come across as Blackwater-Mercenary-wannabees -Too late guys – Didn’t anyone tell them about the cutbacks coming down the pike for war contractors? If they truly are this concerned about getting our kids better training, then my suggestion would be to re-up or get over there and do it where it needs to be done, not by what most of us locals already consider just “playing” in the quiet and peaceful hills of Idaho.

  4. If they use tracer rounds they could catch the place on fire creating jobs putting out the fire. Can’t you people leave the “job creators” alone?
