We found it ironic to get a release from the BOISE Visitors and Convention Bureau promoting an event in NAMPA. The BCVB gets funding from the Greater Boise Auditorium District to promote local events.
This time they are pushing the October 17 gathering of Republican has beens at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. Doors open at 7:00 AM. The show is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The DAILY PAPER has a good explanation of the event which is some sort of “motivational” gathering.
Here is a sample of the menu and prices:
VIP & VIP All Access Passes–
VIP – Breakfast and Photo with Steve Forbes (Includes private lunch) [$195.00]
VIP – Lunch with Opening Remarks and Photo with Sarah Palin [$195.00]
VIP – Evening Reception and Photo with Rudy Giuliani (Includes private lunch) $195.00
VIP All-Access (Includes events with Rudy Giuliani, Sarah Palin and Steve Forbes)
$495.00
It has all the ring of a candidate fundraiser, but the names have changed. Perhaps the methods are the same for all campaigning.

How about promoting a honesty gathering?

It is called PowerUp Boise, but held in Nampa? All the more reason for a new convention center. (sarcasm)
I have never been to one of these events, but the I don’t see this as GOP endorsed/sponsored event. Looks like enterprising individuals sharing their experiences.
EDITOR NOTE–We have since been told Kristin Armstrong will also be there with the notable Repubs. She seems to be a Dave Bieter favorite, but we don’t know her politics. Admittedly we don’t know if it is a partisan event, but the “pay to picture” part has a familiar ring. PAst events have had Condi Rice and Barbara Bush–not exactly liberals.

Well of course the BCVP is promoting this event, how many of those big names are going to stay in the no-tell motel on Garrity Blvd. The best Nampa has to offer is the 2.5 star Hampton Inn. The BCVP knows what it’s doing here.

Hmmm.. shall I get my picture taken with Forbes, Giuliani, or Palin. As much as I like Forbes, not much of a decision. Toss Kristin into the mix and it would be much tougher. Although I am told that she is a great person that will accomodate anyone at no charge.

Editor-AGAIN! do your homework. The BCVB promotes events for the entire Valley and has forever. BCVB receives an Idaho Travel Council grant that helps to promote events…the GBAD funding is so minute – it barely covers costs to promote Boise. BUT, wait…rumor has it the BCVB is becoming a part of the Boise Chamber! Hmmmm…wonder what the surrounding communities think…Meridian, Caldwell, Nampa, etc. are NOT going to support the BOISE Chamber when they have their own. AGAIN, tourism suffers because someone wants to be a hero. Wait for the move and watch how fast the lawsuits fly because it is “illegal to fund the BCVB” but OK to fund the Chamber???!! BTW-GBAD meeting is this FRIDAY/10:00am where GBAD will decide to continue the funding to the BCVB or not…bets anyone?

The daily has a good write up of what it is and is not. http://www.idahostatesman.com/2012/10/16/2311781/nampa-event-has-giuliani-palin.html
They are donating back to two Boise organizations- Boys and Girls Club of Ada County and St. Lukes Childrens’ Hospital.

They say the event could change your life. I think Sarah Palin could possibly do that. Not sure about Rudi or Malcolm. Kiristin seems to be for America from what I’ve seen. Like “America, F%$#k Yeah ” type politics.
EDITOR NOTE–Meeting Malcom would certainly change you since he has been dead for years! Son Steve Forbes will be at the Nampa event.
