With the latest slap down of Boise City by ACHD commishes, it would appear the good offices of the GUARDIAN with years of institutional memory are needed to serve the interests of citizens.
The city wants to place hockey puck-shaped sensors in the streets to sense car movement from parking spots downtown and erase any remaining time on the meters. ACHD wants a formal agreement and refuses to play without one.
In a nutshell, the city is allowed to control parking and ACHD controls the streets and right-of-way. See previous posts for details.
We propose a meeting between Mayor Dave Bieter and ACHD Chairman John Franden at Idaho Ice World. The GUARDIAN will act as referee and last man standing wins. We will make the rules and mediate the results.

Why would the city want to erase remaining time? Greed? Hmmmm?
I think it’s cuz Team-Dave dreams of being just like the larger commie cities: http://consumerist.com/tag/parking/
