Good Veteran’s Day Or Christmas Gift Idea

DRAFTED! Vietnam at War and at Peace
“DRAFTED!” is Dave Frazier’s behind-the-scenes account of the mostly involuntary Army of the 1960’s and his personal quest to make the best of an otherwise unpleasant situation and have fun doing it during the Vietnam War.

As a young freelance reporter-photographer, Frazier was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Vietnam. A note in his personnel file from a friendly commander led to an assignment as a Public Affairs NCO writing about and photographing the activities of the transportation command during the height of the Vietnam War in 1967-68.

Frazier’s memoir provides a unique look at Vietnam as both a war and a country. Dozens of contemporary photos along with “historic” war time images by the author compliment the vignettes and offer a peek at life in Vietnam today.

Think: equal parts M.A.S. H., GOOD MORNING VIETNAM, and soul-baring truths from a vet who returned unscathed, but not unchanged.

Thanks for your service Dave, and congrats on the book. I’ll likely pick one up.

My whole childhood I wanted an army suit…in 1968 when I was 18 I got my wish.

EDITOR NOTE–I’ve got one that is about 6 sizes too small.

I have read David’s book and reccomend it. The story of seeing shadows on the beach and how terrified he was thinking they were Viet Cong only to discover it was a lovers paradise is worth the price of the book alone

  3. I think all of us that lived in that time didn’t come through without some scars. Getting a draft notice and a number… but getting off because you were going to college…. or your friends have a friend on the draft board…. nothing was fair…

No doubt the ones that went have more scars than the rest of us…. but today I can say I would died for my county but not my government . Never trusted them after the war. Too many lies and too easy for them to say the lies.

Truth is I don’t see much difference in what we are doing today… Maybe worse

    God bless you Dave

  4. Dave…. do you always speak of yourself in 3rd person? JK Dave I mean you no disrespect. We vehemently disagree on some things (cops) and agree on others (deer in the headlights Dave)but one thing I will never do is challenge your right to your opinion… no matter how wrong it is..nor will I ever discredit your service… one vet to another..even if you were army..at least you weren’t a marine.

EDITOR NOTE–And that’s why we have the GUARDIAN.

  5. Bought 2! Gave one to my son!

    EDITOR NOTE–MANY THANKS!
