There is really no point in trying to offer up the same news as BoiseDev. Don Day is a dedicated and unbiased journalist who has worked to provide voters with info on local candidates in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.
If you haven’t made up your mind yet, take a read at BOISEDEV. You are certainly welcome to comment on issues and candidates and the GUARDIAN will provide the forum for the debate.

Don Day has a problem with Boise’s first strip mall – Vista Village. It’s a family problem which stands in the way of those who live and shop in that area. IF he could get past the Day history and look at what is better for those living on the Depost Bench then I would consider voting for him. Just think if he helped by allowing apartments (much needed housing) to be built above the stores when Vista Village remodeled years ago. Sorry Don.

Marcel….Don isn’t running for anything.

Marcel, Not sure the status of this project, but the Day family has proposed some apartments near Vista Village. https://boisedev.com/news/2016/9/29/apartment-complex-planned-for-former-railroad-property-on-boise-bench/

Yes, my family owns Vista Village.
No, I’m not running for another. Not now. Not ever.
Also, I disclose the Vista Village link anytime it’s relevant to a story, and it’s listed on my About page.
It’s ALSO important to note that I don’t have an interest in Vista Village – but my father does.

The first comment is so far-off-the wall, it’s painful to read.
Don Day, thanks for the comment.
You’re doing great work!
Trump once said he was never gonna run for office. Now look at his mess.
Brent Coles once agreed to NEVER hold public office in Idaho- now look.
🙂

Don Day, I want to join your website but the $110 is a bit too much. Do you have a discount code? There is a blank for it on your subscription page.

I have a problem with those who come on to the site to just bash people. They are paid by and engaged by who? And they are often very off point and uninformed and dumb.
Sorry for that for you DD.

I’ve looked for candidate info on the BOISEDEV website. So far, the only thing I’ve found is from 4 or 5 months ago, when McLean announced her candidacy. Is there a specific link that could be provided?
I, too, occasionally enjoy looking at the BOISEDEV, but it’s mostly geared toward people involved in the “growth industry,” and I kinda wish there was a little less of that in my home town.
(Suggestion: For us folks who can’t justify $100/year for the content, maybe you could provide a “donate” button like Dave does at the Boise Guardian. I wish I could donate more, but I try to click on it at least once a year or so. Both of you are doing a great service for the public – providing NEWS. Not much of that nowadays, other than PR propaganda from the numerous taxpayer-funded PR hacks.)

Many thanks to Don Day for furnishing us with his great site. We need more info any time we can get it.
I reviewed all of the Boise candidates and it doesn’t look good, other than I really like what Wayne Richey says. He comes off as very fringy and likely won’t win, but I get his POV. Rebecca Arnold seems like the best choice for someone that CAN win and help stop the crazy at City Hall. I will consider her as my choice. I’m hoping that all the Progs will dissolve any monopoly leads and leave Arnold as the change agent. If Bieter and/or McClean come out above 50% then I’m voting for Richey.
City Council looks absolutely horrible. The Unicorn stench is strong. ProGrowth is all the rage. Density is highly embraced. Do ANY of the pro-density candidates actually live in a multi-fam building??? Inquiring minds want to know. In fact, that would be a good question to pose to ALL candidates who seek more density. I already suspect the answer…..NO…..but then I want to know WHY they don’t.

Bikeboy-
There are dozens of stories on the site, and nearly a dozen on the home page alone.
This link is the election category that has most everything including 8 long-form Q&As
I looked at a donation option but it’s too cumbersome in combination with membership. The site does cover growth but it isn’t at the exclusion of anyone. Information is power whether you like growth or so not.
Here’s that link:
