To the surprise of very few, former Boise Mayor Dave Bieter has found employment with a development firm.
According to KTVB NEWSBieter is joining Dave Wali at the Gardner Company, the development firm responsible for major downtown Boise projects like the Zions Bank Building and the underground transportation hub, among others.
Bieter was mayor when those projects came about. He also previously appointed himself to the board of the Capital City Development Corp., Boise’s urban renewal agency. His term expires in 2022 despite his defeat in the November city election which saw former city councilor Lauren McLean win the mayor’s position.
She has also appointed herself to the CCDC urban renewal agency in an obvious move to blunt Bieter’s position. With Gardner so active in development projects, it would appear Bieter will be faced with conflicts of interest as an employee of the firm and a CCDC board member.

And the revolving door continues in the City!

This is what’s known as the “revolving door” in politics. Whereas in Washington, DC the revolving door is between the Treasury and Wall Street, DOD and the military-industrial complex, and between the EPA and oil/chemical companies, in local politics it’s usually between City Hall and land developers. Dave B. has had 16 years to grease the skids, rub elbows, and polish more than a few knobs in the development business. It is a conflict of interest to put it mildly.

Yeah. No kidding. He’d been working for Gardner for 10 years.

Ada County Mayors/Council members have never met a developer they didn’t like.

Can we look at the before and after net worth, and businesses, and those persons nearby? I’d like to know just how rich one can get.

Welcome to America!
free enterprise. free choice. free elections.
Too bad Bieter doesn’t own hotels or a golf course in Boise. He could’ve crush it! Well, there’s always PERSI.
p.s. Maybe he’ll bring Doan along with him as an as sistant.

Dave put a developer in charge of Development Services to make sure all of Uncle Tommy’s projects slid through.

A “Project manager” – NOT! he cannot manage anything other than screwing the voters – along with Gardner he is among his own.

Confirms where his loyalty has been over his term as Mayor.

I really don’t see much good coming with this new admin. We just traded a Lenin for a Trotsky. We need a citizen mayor that isn’t woke and will understand that growth is very, very costly.

The next question is where Dennis Doan washes up. Will his homeboy Dave B. do him a solid and bring him on at Gardner?
Mar 11, 2020, 6:10 pm
Too bad that some type of conflict of interest charge can’t be retroactively brought.

Don’t worry the current mayor and council just decided to spend $60,000 with one gal to do :diversity training” at City Hall. That must have been a BIG problem for the previous mayor – a $60,000 problem?

Didn’t Gardner & Co. get run out of Utah for similar reasons?
Instead of appointing herself to the CCDC Mayor McLean should have worked to dissolve it as the CCDC no longer fits its purpose.
