After finally getting both COVID vaccine shots (the Brits call them “jabs”) pent up desire to be on the road again put us in the car for a cross country drive to Florida to visit relatives.
In Farmington, New Mexico the local Denny’s required diners to register and provide a phone number prior to seating. It wasn’t a scam. New Mexico had no deaths and only a few cases of COVID that day. The registration was to enable tracking in the event of a confirmed case.
Everywhere in the South masks are required and there is an abundance of hand cleaner stations.
Several hotels had paper seals on the room doors after they had been “sanitized.” In Florida, masks were as common as shorts and sandals.
The “anti-masker” element was not present the further east we went.

People who use their masks adinfinitum by not washing or replacing them are nothing more than walking germfest for those around them. I do make the effort to use a mask where they are required but trying to use one in a restaurant makes no sense. How do you eat or drink with one on your face?
Mar 26, 2021, 4:01 pm
I am so happy for you.

That’s good to hear. I’m in Reno at the Atlantis and the hotel/casino requires everyone wear a mask. Each time I walked in from outside my temperature was taken. Everyone seems to comply.

So I take it you think people who know that this whole CCP virus is a scam, that the survival rate is 99.997% (Better than the flu) and that masks don’t work for virus (Read the box please,) are somehow to be denigrated. We are not anti maskers, we are pro-freedom. But then you don’t like Trump so I can’t credit you for any intelligence anyway.

Editor, this is kind of a repeat of your “damn the torpedoes (stay at home), I’m going to the lake” post, April of last year https://boiseguardian.com/2020/04/19/govt-rules-defy-logic-and-reason/
and your trip to Michigan in June of last year

notably neither of those posts are on the ‘related stories’ above.

Anyone heard of which legislators are out sick with the bug? Their condition? Should be public information.
You know, since the vax has been available for some time now, legislators, officials, and many public employees are important to keep ‘the store’ open.
Mar 27, 2021, 6:19 pm
My findings are similar west to east except to add I thought the larger metro areas tend to be more concerned with COVID than out in the sticks. This urban/rural pattern even back East. However the only place in the country I’ve encountered a person who confronted me about ME wearing MY mask in a retail store was in good ol Boise Idaho.
BTW, The air quality in Boise is really a problem one notices upon return. The valley is a big brown/yellow smudge from the air.

Sorry Pat, if you are going to fire off false facts at least provide a source. I am going to believe WebMD over you, where articles are written by doctors. Patients hospitalized by COVID in the VA were 18% likely to die, compared to 5% for the flu. Also patients with COVID were 2.5 times more likely to need hospitalization and their hospital stay was longer. here is a link to the article if your head does not explode when exposed to the truth.

Sorry Pat, those numbers so old and wring, not sure where you found them. The ARGIS dashboard by john Hopkins seem to have to most up to date information and easily read. International death rate is around 2.1% while the US is 1.8%. Mexico isn’t having any fun with this at 9%. All far and above your numbers.
Regardless of the hysteria over “government mandates” I see businesses and people willingly following masking protocol to try and protect others. Businesses need, absolutely need, healthy employees to run.
Mask up, if you care about others and other peoples businesses, or just stay home. It is not too difficult.

We can throw numbers around and engage in moralizing about mask wearing from the safety of our keyboards, but why don’t we get personal? For anyone who has lost a friend or family member to COVID as the primary cause of death, please tell their story here. The only requirement I ask is that COVID be the primary cause, and you list all of their known co-morbidities, e.g. diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cancer, etc.
I will start: nobody I know personally has died or been hospitalized for COVID. I can count on one hand the number of times I wore a mask over the last 12 months and have not been sick once.

My second jab is Saturday. (Looking forward to travel – I have a 1-year-old grandbaby in Chicago that I haven’t even met yet!)
I’m happy to wear a mask in public places, even if all it does is make my fellow citizens feel better. (My belief is that it probably helps to some degree.) Social distancing, washing hands frequently, etc., are probably more effective.
Dr. Tony Fauci has proved that he’s as clueless as anybody else, with his ever-changing recommendations.
Several personal friends have been hospitalized… many more with minor symptoms. No fatalities in my immediate circle – a blessing!
“In Florida, masks were as common as shorts and sandals.” AMMON BUNDY – are you reading this? Please, OH PLEASE move to Florida to continue your important Mask Warrior work! (Thank you!)

So, I was down getting my second Pfizer shot down at the Albertsons Corporate Headquarters Saturday afternoon, and struck up a conversation with the nice young man who had volunteered to run the “recovery room”, handing out water and snacks. I asked him why he gave up the first really nice Saturday of the year, and he told me he had taken COVID lightly, and ended up spending two weeks on a ventilator. He has permanent heart and lung damage, and is likely going to be taking medication as a result for the rest of his life. I asked how old he was. His response: 29.
FunkHobo69, don’t mistake the anecdote of good luck as meaning this isn’t a real problem, please.
Mar 29, 2021, 3:47 pm
Sorry Pat, that is just dumb.
I am positive if your newsfeed said the US is under attack by a biological, nuclear or chemical attack YOU would be the first don ‘a mask’. I bet you have one of those in your closet. 😉

Here you go Hobo
https://www.kivitv.com/news/samantha-hickeys-doctor-speaks-out-about-her-death
and as doubters, such as Hobo, would like to say, ‘she died of a heart attack, not covid’. That is your point here, right? “It wasn’t covid that caused her death”?
Ask the family of this nurse in Caldwell, why she died, and see what their answer is compared to your conjectures.

Why would I want to get jabbed with a product that the manufacturer is immune from a lawsuit? Yes, you can take them to “vaccine court” but why not regular court? These are NOT vaccines…they are “operating systems” by their own admission. First, there was going to be just one jab..then just two…now maybe more. And what about the “mutated” COVID coming? Or maybe a brand new virus around the corner?
The goalposts of COVID keep getting moved farther way as you comply with the demands.
The adverse reactions were anticipated on a grand scale, so they sought an AI program to collect the data….”The MHRA urgently seeks an Artificial Intelligence (AI) software tool to process the expected high volume of Covid-19 vaccine Adverse Drug Reaction (ADRs) and ensure that no details from the ADRs’ reaction text are missed.” See here-

All kinds of people are getting Bells Palsy and feinting after the jabs.
The next time you encounter the COVID post jab…will you experience a Cytokine Storm? I don’t want to find out.
Mar 30, 2021, 11:55 pm
From Eastie’s last post referencing an unscientific article from eight months ago, I will assume that he (or she) doesn’t know anyone personally who perished due to COVID.
Does anyone else here have a friend or family member who died as a direct result of COVID? If so, what was their age and health status?
Mar 31, 2021, 6:15 am
To Forced Air:
Are all kinds of people ‘feinting’ (moving around, herky-jerky style), or ‘fainting’ (losing consciousness style)?
Are you a typical under-educated moron who watches Fox News?
Were you on drugs when you typed your rant?
Mar 31, 2021, 10:33 pm
FunkHobo69: I have lost a family member as well as a close friend and colleague. I would be joking and and laughing with both of them in 2021 if not for COVID in 2020.
This isn’t a parlor game. Grow the heck up.

Boise Lawyer: Age, health status of the above mentioned victims? Perhaps you can link to an obit published in a local newspaper or online?
As a natural-born skeptic, my point is to try to independently verify these stories. I don’t think we should ever trust anything that is being promoted by government, large corporations and the mainstream media in lock step. They all have a very long history of lying and obstructing the truth.

Boise Library Meeting Minutes from December say that the Executive Management Team provided an update “on employees being exposed to COVID-19 at work. Some departments are seeing a spread where individuals are not wearing masks or physically distancing, particularly during lunch. Staff at the Library continue to wear masks and physically distance and have seen no reported instances of known COVID exposures at the Library.”

Forced Air re: “vacine court”. Unfortunately, “vacine court” is not a realistic option. If this epic covid vaccine experiment goes sideways there is no recourse for victims. Read it here https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/16/covid-vaccine-side-effects-compensation-lawsuit.html.
Thanks China.
