A Pocatello man owns a baseball cap worthy of future fishing trips and visits to the casino.
Idaho State Police report that a Utah man is in jail following a road rage incident on I-15 Tuesday. The Utah driver approached the Pocatello driver’s car at a high rate of speed and fired several rounds at the slower moving car.
Police report that one round went through the driver side window and continued THROUGH THE DRIVER’S BASEBALL CAP, but he was not injured! He suffered a few scratches from the shattered window, but the bullet only penetrated the hat.
Christian Heskett, 22, of West Jordan, Utah was charged with aggravated battery by use of a deadly weapon.
The GUARDIAN suggests the victim wear the hat with the bullet hole on future fishing and gambling trips… just for luck.

What astounds me is that the Idaho citizen didn’t return highly accurate and overwhelming firepower.
Reminds me of one of the few attempted drive by shootings up north some decades ago… punks from Spokane drove to CDA, sprayed a house with 9mm, then a neighbor stepped out with a 30-06 and ended the problem.

I spend a lot of time on these roads. Most drivers are skilled with the vehicle but some clearly are not. A few should not be allowed on the freeway until their basic vehicle skills are greatly improved. In general, by all drivers, there is not enough focus on the road… not enough focus on driving strategy… not enough focus on sharing the road efficiently and courteously.
There are vehicles in disrepair going 80 that look to be unsafe at over 35. Commonly RV/horse/atv/boat trailers are loaded incorrectly and towed too fast by too small of towing vehicle (ISP could do outreach on this).
Most drivers are aware to keep to the right unless promptly passing. However, way too many lane block the left lane for several minutes. A few stay in the left as if it’s just for them. Speed limit is 80 but 90 is commonplace. Even if properly passing a slower vehicle in a timely manner there is always the jackass who will speed up to ride the rear bumper. Too many drivers who are clearly more important than others and create danger with their anger…ISP where are you!
Lastly and much to my disgust, the truck drivers are overall not as skilled or courteous as once upon a time… Happily the truck safety technology is much improved.
Suggestions to ISP on changing tactics to:
1) Educate on proper road educate with outreach… start young in high school.
2) Enforce to educate on the road.
3) Heavy hardcore enforcement to the jackasses who create danger.

I believe the ISP just got a grant to enforce the seat belt law? Reckless, aggravated, and road rage infested drives be aware! BUCKLE UP!
