“It’s HOW You Say It”

Ed note–
Some letters are too good to leave buried on the blog comments. This gem deserves full review as a guest entry. The opinions are not necessarily those of the GUARDIAN.

By Steve Hulme

Boise’s powerful Egg Foo Yong Lobby flexes its muscle. (Sure it’s good, but you’re hungry again an hour later, and Bisterfeldt won’t do a thing about it! He’s in their pocket!)

The Guardian is right. I feel much less threatened, as a Boise resident, by the anti-abortion, keep-the-brain-dead-alive folks, than by those who would continue slappin’ houses up as fast as they can haul the building materials to the lots. (With the approval of their friends at City Hall.)

I feel compelled to comment on current campaign slogans.

Have you seen Mapp’s signs?

MAPP … The Future.

Cack! Mapp must be sent packing, if for no other reason than having such an over-the-top hopelessly lame campaign slogan!!

Thankfully, the other candidates have exercised restraint. We coulda had “Just Do It – Jordan!” (with silhouette of a slam-dunking Maryanne). Or a salute to spiritual music: “Roll, Jordan, Roll!”

Brandi – obvious: “Sweeter than Candy!”

Tibbs could nod to the classic movie “In the Heat of the Night” with “They call me Mister Tibbs!”

This must end NOW!

Mapp – the future. I think I’m gonna hurl!

It will all be over November 8, remember to vote.

  1. Oh you are so wrong…. It’s not over! We have the library bond, and new school bond election, and if we get real lucky a Convention Center election. Can barely wait for the slogans for these election!

  2. DON’T VOTE FOR JIM TIBBS.

What a jerk. I can’t believe he would exploit the Jones shooting situation for his own benefit through his radio ads. Not too mention the fact that he was such a whiner when he didn’t get the job of chief of police.

He is already behaving like a “seasoned” politian and he hasn’t even held office yet….

  3. I think Tibbs will win the election. I also think he should make a public pledge that if ANYTHING comes out of the multiple investigations into the Jones shooting that shows he acted improperly at ANY time…he will immediately resign his Council seat. The commercial is horrid. Calling the shooting “unfortunate” is unforgivable. I guess the question is can we take him at his word?

  4. Since I have a Boise mailing address with an 83716 zip code (which used to be 83712 until the USPS built a new post office on the east side of Ada county), I still get political pleads from everyone that runs for an office in the city of Boise, even though I live outside of the city limits. If these people and their campaigns don’t even know who lives outside the Boise city limits, I wonder who really does know?
