Daily Paper Details Craig Oral History

The Daily Paper sent a nice Christmas greeting to Larry “Thumper” Craig in Sunday’s print edition and promoted web site oral history recordings of cutting remarks from gay blades detailing sexual encounters with Idaho’s most famous senator.

The story offered what Dee and other news anchors like to solemnly warn us are “graphic details.” The Dan Popkey story falls clearly into the “TMI” category–TOO MUCH INFORMATION. While most of the text was just more of the same old stuff, the part about who did what to whom during a massage session with a gay man probably didn’t do much for Sunday morning breakfast conversation. It included a description of position and action between the men.

Why Craig doesn’t simply go away is beyond us. Future politicians can take a lesson from this political saga: DO NOT TELL LIES–especially to the media!

Craig has brought Idaho more national publicity than the Fiesta Bowl and all the “top 10” magazine lists combined. Any bets on the number of “supportive” letters to the editor at the Daily Paper?

  1. Hell, he’s getting away with it.

Maybe he knows something about Idaho Republicans that I don’t.

After the Clinton saga, I kinda assumed that Republicans were definitely not down with illicit sex. Apparently that’s not the case.

If you do it in a public restroom with another dude, you’re free and clear.

  2. I’m just glad the TV writers are on strike…. Jay Leno’s guys would have a great time with this…. AGAIN.

And once again, Senator wide stance has come out (you should excuse the expression) and declared that it is not true and that he is not now, nor has he ever been gay. You know, I think maybe someone ought to sit the Senator down ans explain the meaning of some of the words used to describe various sexual, hmmmm proclivities. Especially since sitting down is one of the problem leading postures of the senior Senator. So good to know that most folks don’t know where Idaho is. This is going to go a long way towards letting the American public know that there a lot of things we and our elected representatives don’t know, either. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, maybe it is just some ducking activity – with toilet paper on its widely spaced shoe.

Come out, come out, where ever you are.

I bet the support letters will be outnumbered by the get the heck out of town letters, by a 5 to 1 margin. There are still those who believe Craig is being railroaded by the media. There are those that think there is a vast conspiracy to remove him from office. Then there are those that are true believers and will never ever be able to open their minds to the fact that Larry Craig has spent a lifetime making fools of the people of Idaho. That he has certain sexual tendencies that are out of the mainstream. That he has closeted them for his entire life and that he truly thinks he is above the fray. Just watch channel 7 for their “man in the street” interviews of people in Homedale or whatever town Craig is from. They will all support him to his last day. I for one wish he would resign and go back to being a “Rancher”, which, when I moved here 20 some years ago, Mr. Craig listed as his occupation. What a joke. Too bad it’s on us taxpayers.

  5. Is tar and feather against the law?
What does it take to rid of this man?
    Can’t we do a recall?
Why is this man still in office?

  6. I hate Larry Craig! Not for what he did, (although I still don’t know how you could physically do that sort of thing) I don’t even hate him for lying about it!(All politicians lie)
I travel a lot. And EVERY time I go into a public restroom in an airport, the vision of Larry trying to get “lucky” haunts me! I am frightened that this will last forever and that is not a good thing.

Life would be much better if good old Larry would fade away. But that is obviously not going to happen. He will finish his term and then go make big bucks lobbying. So why doesn’t Popkey just let it die? I am convinced that he sees this as his legacy in journalism (the guy who took down Craig) and he is now furthering his goal at our expense. Enough! Popkey! We don’t want to hear the blow by blow circumstances of Craig’s demise.
Just let it die the natural death that it is destined to, and PLEASE allow my “visions” to go away as well.

  7. Larry Craig…for his apologists and supporters I say you are fooling yourselves through your noble attempts at continual support.

What if this guy is really nuts? The constant denial is pretty weird stuff and could start some erratic behavior. I hope he is not a danger to himself and to those around him.

  8. C’mon, Larry has gotten us more publicity than Rocky Mountain tick fever and the Aryan Nations combined — and all negative!

    Yay!

Growthophobes, rejoice, and I only wish Leno and the other imitation commedians were real, so they could joke without a script. We need their help to keep our image low.

  9. I disagree cyclops!
Go for it Popkey, keep shaking this Graig thing up. We need more good reporting. How else cyclops would we know whats going on?

  10. Robert, we have known for quite awhile WHAT is going on. Now we are being told HOW it went on, and WHOM it went on with!
That is the part I don’t want to, or need to, know. The guy is a sleazebag! He isn’t going anywhere no matter how nasty Popkey gets!
If those are the “givens” in the equation, when does it simply become piling on?

Craig continues to deny that he is gay, as if he has never heard of the term “bi-sexual”. He should look that up in the dictionary. And don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being gay or being bi-sexual, but if you have to look for sex in public restrooms, then you are a pervert. Look that up too, Larry.

“I hate Larry Craig! Not for what he did, (although I still don’t know how you could physically do that sort of thing) I don’t even hate him for lying about it!(All politicians lie)” CYCLOPS

Cyc, that’s a weird statement coming from a rabid political supporter of one prominent Boise politician…

    Yawn…

Did you know that the Library! has the old “The Prisoner” series on DVD?

“I am not a Number; I am a Free Man!”

    Oh… I’m Sorry… Were you saying something?

    ; )

  14. Tibbs is no more politician than you are! There is a HUGE difference between a politician and someone who seeks political office.
    Bieter is a politician.
    Tibbs was seeking political office.
    Bieter is a trained primate.
Tibbs is still a class act.

Cyc; Tibbs is a class act? Which class, and whar character?

  16. To this day, the only way a gay person could get elected state-wide in Idaho is to lie about it. That doesn’t excuse the weird bathroom thing, but it helps explain a lot of it.

  17. I think any one who is a right wing nut job can get elected in Idaho no matter if you are a pervert or a mass murderer. All ya need is a big R after your name in these parts. Helps too if Jesus talks to you. Anyone remember that R legislator a few years back talkin about how Idaho kids liked to get frisky with heifers like it was just a good old time?

If Larry Craig is so “not GAY” why doesn’t he file a law suit against the Statesman?

I sure wish you Republicans would get your dirty hands off my child’s left behind too.

  18. What came out in the Statesman story on sunday,
    is this:

A few men indicated having sex with Senator Craig in the the 80’s

That being said, Senator Craig was being investigated for sexual relations with under aged senate pages.

I believe in this country that is a crime.
Senator Craig was the only Senator that came before the news media indicating he was not gay.

The word bi sexual did come out in the TV interview and Larry Craig indicated he was not.

I am not sure when the FBI closes the books on molestation, but I wish they would go back and nail this guy , if that indeed was the case.

  19. Picking on Craig is as fun as grabbing a greased pig as it runs – he’s slick and smells about the same.
