Bashing The Daily Paper

Apparently things at the Daily Paper are more unsettled than we previously thought.

We all know media wonks love to “tell all” and tip each other on stories they either are too lazy to write or don’t want their names on…it cuts the chances of landing one of those cushy government jobs if you bash the politicos and bureaucrats.

Well, there is now an insider web site called WORKINGPRESSTOO which has a less than friendly approach to the media. The blog is particularly unkind to the Daily Paper and obviously has staffers feeding info from within. The GUARDIAN “dope reporter” award for silly mistakes and clichés pales in comparison.

Reporters never reveal their sources, so it will be great fun to hear of any witch hunts in the newsroom attempting to identify the author or authors of the new blog. One of our sources tells us based on some e-mail traffic a certain senator’s office may be contributing to the bad news blog.

Since we have a lot of media and government readers we figured it was worth informing folks about the new blog which was started last month. Don’t forget to offer good tips to the GUARDIAN as well.

  1. Altho I’m not a fan of the Daily Paper, there’s something “smelly” about WP2 blog. The article cited from the WSJ is about the overall decline of the newspaper industry and investigative reporting. McClatchy is mentioned once, as one of several prestigious newspapers whose stock has plummeted.
So far, WP2 appears to be about gossip, sour grapes and revenge.

    EDITOR NOTE–We agree.

  2. Honestly if I had to guess “Workingpresstoo” isn’t really run by an “industry insider”. It reeks of an amature who has a chip on their shoulder when it comes to the Statesman.

The person who created it can’t be that savvy. From hosting the site on “wordpress” and calling their site “workingpresstoo” to the cut and paste look of the posts. Just a thought.

I’d guess that there won’t be any “big” surprises to come from the site, it seems the only thing they talk about so far is the Statesman’s coverage of the Larry Craig “affair”.

  3. Looks to me like a Defense of Larry Craig blog. When it starts off by saying that the Statesman is attacking “good men like Larry Craig” my skeptic side begins comes out.

  4. Went to the website and didn’t even bookmark it. Shame on you for not researching it further. It is just a bogus site for bashing the Statesman in order to repair Craig’s reputation. What a lame political move on Craig’s part. Another reason he should be thrown out of office. Accusing Pokey of unsubstantiated child abuse? Amazing.

    Holy Moly Batman!

God only knows how much of it’s true; But it sure as hell makes for entertaining reading.

Can’t wait to hear about the eventual litigation(s)!

  6. G-man you are pushing the envelope on this one. Looks to me like the Craig supporters–all 10 of them–are trying to a “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” thing on Dan.

You were certainly wise to not post the contents of the blog. Telling people it exists is probably OK.
