ELECTION DAY IS HERE! PLEASE VOTE

We certainly don’t need to remind GUARDIAN readers they need to go to the polls today, but we can tell them WHERE TO VOTE.

Here are some tidbits from Ada County elections office:
–There are 865 election workers on duty today, 740 are at polling places.
–201,500 registered voters in Ada County.
–Expected turnout is 60-65% of registered voters. 2006 Saw 61% turnout
–8178 voted early
–24079 requested absentee ballots, but only 18,081 actually voted. They will accept absentee ballots dropped off at Benjamin St. until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
–Seven counting machines tabulate 50-200 ballots per minute.
–You can get up to the minute results at ADA ELECTION RESULTS
–Absentee and early results will be posted after 9p.m. so not to influence voters north of the Salmon River in the Pacific time zone where polls close an hour later than southern Idaho.

  1. Seems to be the new fad to tell everyone you voted especially on social media- Facebook and Twitter.

    I Voted.

  2. I voted. Page 2 took about 15 seconds!

Dave… I should already know this. The teevee news people this morning (KBOI) said the Constitutional Amendments needed to pass by a 2/3 majority of voters to become law. I had understood a simple majority. Can you (once again) clarify?

EDITOR NOTE–It takes 2/3 of both houses of legislature to get it on the ballot and a simple majority of citizens to pass. There is NO PROVISION for citizens in Idaho to EVER initiate a constitutional amendment. So absolute is the power of government in Idaho, a statute passed by citizens (term limits?) can be immediately repealed by the legislature.
