Legislative Staffers Get 42% Of All Bonuses

The IDAHO REPORTER has posted yet another hard hitting story you won’t find in the old legacy media.

UPDATE— Saturday DAILY PAPER has the story as well as AP.

This time they quote Legislative Services Office Director Jeff Youtz (the people who help draft the bills). “Because of these staff reductions and retirements, I had the money and I felt that my employees deserved them (bonuses),” Youtz said.

Poor guy needs a reality check: HE didn’t have the money–it was ours–and the employees are also OURS, just like Youtz.

Idaho’s Legislative Services Office (LSO), which assists state lawmakers, paid out bonuses of at least $1,200 to 59 employees this year. The $94,633 given out is almost 42 percent of all bonuses given out to state employees, though the director of the agency said it’s in an effort to reward staff amidst shrinking staffs and budgets.

“I think the employees we have left that are doing more with less deserve that kind of recognition and compensation,” said LSO Director Jeff Youtz.

Would it be possible to get a list of empl0yees who received less money for poor performance??

  2. Unbelievable. The disgusting sense of entitlement that these people have. They all ready make more than private sector employees in comparable positions. They have no idea what it’s really like to have to struggle.

  3. I have had two jobs in my professional field with the state and neither paid anything near the private sector. Both however, have been excellent learning experiences that stretched my abilities, with great co-workers and bosses.

Actually, the AP had the story first.

  5. A bonus for WHAT? Just what was done based upon merit did all these people do.

I always thought bonus payments were related to just how brown an employee’s nose got over the course of they year. In very few instances did I ever see a bonus paid to someone who came up with a really good cost savings plan or idea. These folks usually got a certificate and perhaps a gift card of less than $100 for their efforts.

  6. I work for Ada County, and private
sector for my job, pay is 20K-25K per year more. I am ways looking for a place to go, due to the fact working for the county is unrewarding, and under paid. So bitch all you want, you all have it good.

    Bonuses right……..

  7. WHAT THE **** over? How can they possibly justify this when other state employees have not seen anything for the last 3.5 years.

  8. Truly amazing. I know of a State of Idaho agency that turned back $60,000.00 to the legislature from the general fund as a misguided way to curry favor, again cooked up by a narcisstic director and fiscal officer. No one got raises, bonuses and staff has been cut to the bone. They had bee told all year that there was no money to do anything.
The only time a state job is worth it is in an economic downturn. Then everyone thinks you’re lucky.
