Imagine A Gun Rally In NYC or D.C.

BDU
We made these images for the day job to show folks in the rest of the world how we do business in Idaho. Imagine how this little noted event would have played out in the Eastern seaboard or even Chicago or Detroit!IDAHO GUN RALLY

The Saturday rally on the Statehouse steps in support of the proposed Idaho law to allow permit less carry of firearms had several hundred attendees and about half of them were noticeably packing heat.

Weapons displayed ranged from AK-47s to antique rifles with bayonets. Lots of automatic pistols and a fair number of BIG “hogleg” .44 mags. For the fashion conscious we saw lots of Cabelas and very little R.E.I. when it came to outerwear. There was also plenty of B.D.U camo as well.

    Any thefts reported?

  2. Say, I bet none of them used the ride-share bicycles. No gun rack.

Guns don’t prevent tyranny. Who ya vote for does. Two votes for Obama means at least three crazy liberal judges, maybe four because Ginsberg is ill (way-to-go all you free spirit independent voters).

No need to stock up on guns and bullets. It’s rarely a limiting factor in open conflict. They are everywhere in every war zone. Food, water, shelter, and people who can be trusted when SHTF are of much greater concern. However, it is important to know how to use one.

Okay, here’s a serious question. If an Air National Guard unit was given orders to perform and air raid on a US city, would they carry out their orders? If yes, then the federal government needs to be removed from the chain of command of the National Guard units. This concept was challenged by the governor of Minnesota in the late 1980s. Minnesota lost and Reagan used the Minnesota Air Guard in the now famous Iran-Contra affair. I think the concept should be tested to see how the unit command will react. We like to think of all this police and military equipment as being pointed at someone else, but most often around the world the military has been used on it’s own people. The snoops are certainly pointed inward.

  3. I wish I could have been there. If the rich folks disarm the people of America, the rest of our “rights” will quickly vanish. Do a little digging and it is obvious that nearly all the school and other widely televised shooting events were staged. The rich folks want us powerless ASAP. The quote below is very appropriate.

Never Forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn’t allow him to do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.

You forgot an important word in your description of the firearms – SEMI – As in, lots of SEMI-automatic pistols.

I’d be really surprised if there was more than one or two event attendees licensed to have full auto, let alone carrying them at this event.

EDITOR NOTE: I am not a gun guy, but “automatic” is the common term to distinguish a type of pistol from a “revolver.” When one talks of a “machine pistol,” that is another weapon altogether. Here is a note on the ammo for a model 1911 .45 cal. “The .45 ACP (11.43×23mm) (Automatic Colt Pistol), also known as the .45 Auto by C.I.P. or 45 Auto by SAAMI…”

  5. More of Idaho’s stupidity!

A great turnout for sure. I watched the local big 3 news stations and only 2 reported on this event. CH7 got the numbers right at “hundreds” of marchers. CH2 was a total FAIL as the blonde chickie first said “a handful” in the afternoon report and changed it to “dozens” in the night report. Pure anti-gun propaganda.

I am so glad that after Sandy Hoax and the rest of the Obama Drills that Americans pushed back as hard as they have. This tells the grabbers that we are far from giving up. But, that doesn’t mean we are to get complacent. The Eric Holders of the world are still out there trying to in his words “brainwash” everyone.

I am a gun owner. However, I feel it is too bad that we haven’t created a society where we all can feel safe without owning, carrying a firearm. I don’t buy into the argument that we need firearms to protect our rights and to feel safe. That is what our vote is designed to do. Have you ever watched “Black Hawk Down”? Does Somalia sound, look like a safe place to live, raise a family? From personal experience, I will also stand by the idea that more firearms equal more firefights vs arguments. It also trivializes the value of a life in general. Blow em away, mow em down, do you feel lucky punk?, give me a double tap..

  8. I was there with my cane if the crowd got a bit unruly. I never felt safer in my life

I’m a gun owner and I have guns to protect myself from the people at that rally, NOT from the federal government.

What are they putting in the water to introduce such widespread paranoia and farfetched conspiracy theories? You guys know that almost all conspiracy theories have been wrong, don’t ya?

  10. Grumpy Ole Guy – The crime rate in an area where the citizens are well armed always seems unexplainably low. Maybe they are all just really good people??
Got to find a “gun free zone” to see real evil express itself, but don’t worry, they are all just “crisis actors” working from a “made for corporate news” script, and none of the blood is real.

Dave Kangas – It is touching that some folks are still naive and innocent enough to still believe that voting works.
I’d feel safe if the government handed all their guns over to the people. Seems all the people wanting to disarm us are surrounded by armed bodyguards though, kind of ironic!

Rod in SE Boise – You must have missed the Snowden data dump pilfered from the folks who coined the phrase “conspiracy theorist”. Today’s conspiracy theories are tomorrow’s headlines, just not in the popular corporate media. Bloggers like the Gaurdian are the last purveyors of truth.
“The idea that there should be a network reaching people, which does not repeat the US propaganda system, is intolerable” to the US establishment.

Paranoia and perfect use of propaganda by the NRA has resulted in extreme views of the government by a certain segment of the population. They have been convinced to believe that the government will come after their guns any moment and the only way to stop it is to buy more guns. I have lived in Boise for 30 years now and have never felt threatened enough to want to pack a gun. These people must be scared of their own shadow.

Rod…CTs are either true or not depending on how deep one looks for evidence that calls into question an official narrative. If you want to believe Govt assertions, that’s your choice. I don’t have to abide by what anyone says about anything re truth or fiction, if I think I have a good reason to doubt them. I see what I see that makes logical sense or not. Sandy Hoax is easy to see that it was staged. It’s not hard at all. It’s about doing your own work on it.

For the record – I did not attend this rally and I do not support permitless concealed carry. (Cops don’t need any more reason to train like everyone is a threat and I’ve witnessed how utterly stupid some folks can be at the range.) I am, however, a legal gun owner and shooting sports enthusiast.

No need to post this follow-up comment unless you want to, but I’m not sure you’re making the distinction as it should be made.

.45ACP is simply a type/caliber of ammunition – like .40S&W, .45GAP or .38Special – that are used in the corresponding caliber weapon designed to fire them – Revolvers (AKA the guns with the spinner-thingies) or Pistols (no spinner-thingies).

There are many .45 revolvers that utilize .45ACP rounds.

“Automatic” as it applies to pistols, simply means that the cartridge is automatically ejected after firing.

“Automatic” as it applies to the whole firearm means it will fire repeatedly without repeatedly pulling the trigger.

In this instance, describing the firearms being carried at the rally – Pistols – should be referred to as “Semi-Automatic”.

Saying someone carrying a pistol is carrying an automatic firearm would be like saying someone riding a moped is riding a motorcycle, or that having a swiss army knife or a slingshot in your pocket means you’re concealing a weapon.

While all of these are technically factual, I think you’ll agree, the distinction is rather important.

    Thanks. = >

The regular media might have paid more attention if the rally had been advertised as a Kook Festival.

  15. idaho crystal,

I assure you the editor knows as much about things that go bang as he wants to… and I respect that. Read his book! I have vast knowledge of the topic and had zero difficulty understanding his writings.

I agree with you on open carry and permit less carry. Far too many hot-headed and wrong-headed and incompetent immature ding dongs out there with a very weak understanding of Idaho’s self defense law. The YouTube “gun experts” are painful to watch. I think there are a good number of people who should not be allowed behind the wheel much less twirling a gun in the mirror while reciting Hollywood movie lines. I find open carry to be similar to the need for having a flashy sports car and blaring music. Gun enthusiast should be self-policing their population for troubled individuals. Mental defectives with guns are providing the best avenue for the anti-gun argument… Hillary has a very good chance of winning and Trump is a moderate at best.

Cops and citizens with guns… reality check. If the cops know there’s an active shooting situation there’s a very good chance that anyone with a visible gun will get shot… It’s not unusual for undercover cops to get shot at by uniformed cops. So, best to keep it under cover until needed.

For the record on CC vs OC….I prefer OC so as not to be taken as an “active shooter” in some genuine scenario that occurs. OC makes the public nervous in our current social climate and I don’t need that grief either. CC is best for everyone IMHO.

  17. Guardian, I agree with Idaho Crystal on the distinction of the description of the firearms- especially since the post is about….. firearms.
Car show or gun show- the terms are important. Unless we just want to ignore words, definitions, grammar and understanding all together.

Even the statement of “antique rifles with bayonets” when the only bayonet in the photos is not with an antique is misleading. Sure there may have been antiques with bayonets there, but mixing the two shows inaccuracies in journalism— “not a gun guy” writing about guns.

Much of the misunderstanding about guns in the general public is due to the media lack of knowledge (non-gun people writing bout guns)..The misuse of the word, “automatic” is in part due to media’s misuse of the word…

And so “assault rifles” and automatic weapons are now the evil phrases- suddenly EVERYTHING is an assault rifle and automatic.

As the Court has said, guns rights is up to the states and local govt to decide. Amen!
As for Idaho, let’s keep em around and let people carry them as they wish- just ask Jack Yantis’s wife how well that worked out.

    Part II.
Here for one example is a pro-gun rally on the capitol of Connecticut. It happens everywhere, not just Idaho:

EDITOR NOTE–Easterner, I checked your link and up popped an ad for a Kalashnikov “tactical shotgun” with what looks like a 15 round clip of 12 gauge shells I would venture to guess the only think you could hunt with that weapon is people!

  18. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    -Thomas Jefferson

Guns aren’t just for hunting dinner, in fact, I know a lot of gun owners and can’t really think of one of them that hunts. A lot of folks own guns for that time that is surely coming where government goes Hitler on us and needs some culling.

With illegal spying, groping granny at the airport, extraordinary rendition, asset seizure without cause, illegal wars, selective enforcement of laws, banks stealing folks homes, flash bang grenades in babies cribs, false flag mass school shootings, we are getting pretty close to the American Revolution v2.0.

  19. Ah the Kalashinkov 15 round shotgun…. I prefer American firepower.

But I’ve hear those Russian ducks are tough buggers! 🙂

Actually I would love to hunt quail with a 15 round magazine. I might actually bag a couple of them then.

It is not for me to judge what people find enjoyable. Sport shooting is a hobby much like photography, race cars, and jumping off bridges.

Over one million children die from malaria every year.
Solving that problem is a lot more important than preventing someone from owning a tactical shotgun or whether they have a piece of paper to conceal a legally owned pistol- automatic, semi-automatic or pea shooter.

  20. I remember years ago a Saturday Night Live fake ad. It was an open flatbed truck rolling through New York with big signs on it saying “SHOW US YOUR GUNS” and it was really funny. It was a hoot with all the criminals hold up their guns with some of them reaching for the gun and then smiling and not showing their gun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j67W4cuSOs#t=3.861

  21. This is a story that needed to be told. I know of NO events like this in Minnesota, but it could happen. Keep up the good work. I trust no one will be packing heat at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival this summer.

EDITOR NOTE–There will be plenty packing heat at the ISF, but you won’t know it.

  22. Good job; very unique Mountain West event.

  23. Open carry nuts listen up:

Cops shoot until out of bullets at anyone with a gun. They do not look at who’s in the backdrop either. Just panic shooting and creative writing afterword. It’s as if they are clueless about all the video around and even on them.

So, when do we hear about the rancher? Must be re-interviewing people after 9 months hoping for a contradiction in eye-witness testimony.
