Silly! …it’s a container for Institutional Silage!

So, what’s “Institutional Silage”?

I’m not sure, but 60 years ago as a young kid, I got to take a tour of Triangle Dairy. My most vivid memories are the chocolate milk sample, and the smell! Oh, that smell! I thought I was going to be ill – seriously!

I asked my teacher, “What’s that HORRIBLE smell?”

“That’s silage!”

Silos are departments, private or public, that don’t talk to each other. Otherwise, called ‘protecting turf’. It’s a thing, everywhere.

Strategic initiatives are similar to tactical initiatives, only more broad.

In the 1980s, corporate bureaucrats began using the verb “silo” to mean to “isolate” (a cognate of “silo”) in a group or dept. cut off from others.

We’ll save our etymological disertation on terms like “employability,” i.e. (id est—”that is”), in Anglo-Saxon English, “able to get a job”, “strategic initiatives,” “prioirtize,” and “infrastutcture” for another time.

You hit the nail on the head with this piece. We need to prioritize our strategic initiatives to be inclusive for all stakeholders. The impact of our synergy can move the needle so we can get our ducks in a row. Furthermore, in order to have accountability and transparency, we need a sustainable common-sense approach to thinking outside the box. This is the price point needed to breakdown silos and reach consensus to pivot from circling back so we can all remain above board.

As a former Leftist….Western guy answered correctly. But I’ll clue you in on what it really means. It’s code for MOB RULE. We all want better communication between departments and task forces and all of that…and I used to believe the goal was just that. But as we have seen, the term “silo” really means that Victimhood wants to shout down ANY institutional entity that they perceive as harshing their mellow…as the kids say.

Leftists see victims all over the place. They see cultural offenses everywhere. They want to destroy any perceived barrier to their pestilence of WOKE that lurks in the air, seeking to undo every cultural norm that they allege has caused harm to their kind. It can be dress fashion, gender “bias,” cultural fetishes, sports culture, historical precedent…anything that looks established that they can’t utilize for their own goals of ultimate deconstruction of American norms.

Nancy Pelosi and Dems have already passed “gender neutral” rules for the Congress. So….”In clause 8(c)(3) of rule XXIII, gendered terms, such as “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, grandson, or granddaughter” will be removed.

In their place, terms such as “parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling, first cousin, sibling’s child, spouse, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling, or grandchild” will be used, instead.”

This would be an example of breaking down an institutional silo. Anyone trying to “hide out” in an “institution” and continue to use a gendered term, can’t do that anymore inside their “silo” anymore.

As far as getting any real work done? Sorry…priorities man.
